Signing the contract is the easy part. SCIM adds the seats and audit logs record what people did, but neither one teaches a department what to build with Claude. That is not a plan problem.

The governance questions that gate a rollout
These are the controls that live on Claude Enterprise (not Team) and that compliance, legal, or security teams ask for before approving a rollout.
SSO, SCIM, and identity at scale
SSO is available on Claude Team now. What Enterprise adds is SCIM provisioning - automated user add/remove from your identity provider. For organizations with frequent onboarding or HR-driven lifecycle management, that's the real ask.
Audit logs and compliance observability
Exportable audit logs covering user actions, system events, and data access are Enterprise-only. If your security team, legal team, or a regulator needs to know who did what in Claude, that's the conversation that moves teams to Enterprise.
Custom data retention and encryption keys
Custom data retention controls, customer-managed encryption keys, and US-only inference are Enterprise features. If a client contract or a regulator asks for any of them, this is the plan to ask Anthropic about.
HIPAA readiness and regulated-data handling
A HIPAA-ready offering with a BAA is available on Enterprise, self-serve and sales-assisted. If your team handles regulated health data, this is the path.
