Can you connect two Gmail accounts to Claude?
Short answer: not both at once. As of October 2026, Claude connects to one Google account at a time, so you can link your personal Gmail or your work Gmail through the connector, but not both Gmail accounts at the same time. Here is why, and four ways to work around it.

Why it happens
One account per connector
Claude reaches your email, calendar, and files through a connector. The Google Workspace connector authenticates one Google account, and Claude can only see the Gmail, Calendar, and Drive data for that single account. Connect a second Gmail and it replaces the first; it does not add to it.
This trips up almost everyone running a personal inbox and a work inbox. It is a current limitation of the connector, not a setting you have missed, and multi-account support is one of the most requested connector features right now. Until it ships, Inbox Bridge covers it in the Claude Desktop app, and the four options further down cover everything else.
The free fix
Connect multiple Gmail accounts with Inbox Bridge
Inbox Bridge is our free, open-source tool for exactly this. It installs into the Claude Desktop app as an extension (technically, a local MCP server). You sign in to each Gmail account once, and Claude can then search and read all of them in the same chat.
Ask “What came in from the bank this week, in either inbox?” and Claude checks both accounts and answers in one reply.
Who it is for
Anyone using the Claude Desktop app on a Mac or Windows PC who needs Claude to read two or more Gmail inboxes, like a personal account and a work account. No coding or terminal: setup takes about 10 minutes, most of it making a free sign-in key in Google's settings.
What it does not do
It reads and searches mail; it does not send it. Claude's built-in Gmail connector can now send, reply and draft, so keep that connected to the inbox you send from. It works in the Claude Desktop app only, not in claude.ai in a browser or the mobile apps.
Where your data lives
Your Google sign-ins are saved on your own computer, in a folder only your user account can open. The tool talks to Google directly and nothing passes through our servers. Mail that Claude reads becomes part of your chat, the same as with any connector.

How to set up Inbox Bridge
About 10 minutes, and no coding or terminal. You need the Claude Desktop app on a Mac or Windows PC, and the Gmail accounts you want to connect.
Make your free Google sign-in key
Google asks every app that reads Gmail to have its own sign-in key, so you make one for yourself. It is free, you only do it once, and it takes about five minutes. Each link below opens the right page in Google Cloud; sign in with any Google account.
- Create a project. Call it something like “Inbox Bridge” and click Create.
- Turn on Gmail access by clicking Enable.
- Set up the sign-in screen. Choose External, give it a name, and add your email where it asks. Add the Gmail read-only permission (
gmail.readonly). Then add every Gmail address you want Claude to read as a test user. An address left off that list cannot sign in. - Create the key: choose OAuth client ID, pick Desktop app, and click Create. Google shows a Client ID and a Client secret. Keep that window open, or copy both into a note.
Download and install it in Claude Desktop
One file works on every Mac and Windows PC. Double-click it once it downloads. Claude Desktop opens and asks to install Inbox Bridge: click Install, then paste your Client ID and Client secret into the two boxes.
If double-clicking does nothing, open Claude Desktop, go to Settings, then Extensions, and drag the file into that window.
Connect your inboxes
Start a new chat in Claude Desktop and ask it to add your Gmail account. A Google sign-in page opens in your browser: pick the account and allow Claude to read your Gmail. Google warns that the app is not verified; that is expected, because it is the key you made in step 1 (more on that below). Then ask Claude to add your next account, and repeat for every inbox.

Optional: stay signed in for good
While your sign-in key is in test mode, Google signs you out after 7 days and you have to ask Claude to add each account again. To stop that, open the sign-in screen's Audience page in Google Cloud and click Publish app, then add each account in Claude one more time. From then on Google says “Google hasn't verified this app” when you sign in: click Advanced, then the link to continue to your app.
The “not verified” warning is expected
You are signing in with a key you made yourself, which Google has not reviewed, so Google shows a warning before letting you continue. That is normal for a personal key. The tool only asks to read your Gmail; it cannot send, delete or change anything.
If your company blocks it
With a work Google account, sign-in can stop at “Error 400: admin_policy_enforced” or an “access blocked” screen, sometimes with a button to request access. Your company's Google admin restricts apps like this, and only they can allow it. Setting it up for a team covers what that involves.

Setting this up for a team
Rolling it out across a firm is a different job
For one person, a personal Google Cloud project works fine. Across a team it runs into Google's limits: an unverified app is capped at 100 users for its lifetime and shows every one of them a warning screen, and many Google Workspace admins block unverified apps outright.
Doing it properly means a Google Cloud project your company owns, approval from your Workspace admin, and a security review of what the tool can reach. We can run that with you.
No Desktop app?
Four other workarounds
If you use Claude in a browser or on your phone, or you would rather not install anything, these work today. Ranked roughly from simplest to most involved. Most people land on switching accounts or forwarding.
Switch which Google account is connected
CleanestYou cannot have both connected at once, but swapping takes about a minute, and your Claude memory, projects, and chat history do not change. Only the inbox Claude can see changes.
- In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors.
- Find your Google connector and click it to open the details.
- Click Disconnect, then confirm.
- Connect again and sign in with the other Google account.
If you also want to clear it from Google's side, sign in at myaccount.google.com/connections, find the Claude connection, and remove it there.
Forward the mail you need into your connected account
Keep Claude connected to your main Gmail, then forward the messages you want it to see from your second account into that inbox. Add the second address as a send-as so drafts can go out from either name. This is a Gmail setting, not a Claude feature, but it lets Claude read and draft across both without switching.
Forwarding applies going forward, not to your back-catalog. Set a filter so you only forward what matters instead of everything.
Mix providers instead of two Gmails
The one-account limit is per connector. Gmail and Microsoft 365 are separate connectors, so you can connect a Gmail account and an Outlook / Microsoft 365 account at the same time. That does not help two-Gmail setups, but if your personal inbox is Gmail and your work inbox is Microsoft, you can have both live at once.
Paste it in for one-offs
For a single thread from the account Claude is not connected to, copy the email text into the chat. No connector needed. Fine for a one-time reply or analysis; not something you want to do daily.

Can I connect two Gmail accounts to Claude at the same time?
Not through Claude's built-in Gmail connector, which links to one Google account at a time. In the Claude Desktop app you can, with a local connector (an MCP server) such as Inbox Bridge, our free, open-source tool, which connects several Gmail accounts at once. In claude.ai in a browser or the mobile apps, disconnect the current account and reconnect with the one you need.
Is Inbox Bridge safe?
It asks Google for read-only access to Gmail (the gmail.readonly scope), so it cannot send, delete, or change mail. Your Google sign-ins are saved on your own computer, and the tool talks to Google directly, with nothing passing through our servers. The code is open source under the MIT license, so you or your IT team can read exactly what it does.
Why do I see an unverified app warning when I set it up?
Because you are signing in to a Google app you created yourself, which Google has not reviewed. While the app is in Testing, Google warns that it is in testing. Once you publish it to production, Google shows "Google hasn't verified this app", and you click Advanced, then go to your app. Both are expected for a personal sign-in client. For a whole company, a Google Workspace admin can mark the app as trusted instead.
How do I switch which Google account Claude is connected to?
In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors. Click your Google connector, click Disconnect, and confirm. Then connect again and sign in with the other Google account. Your Claude memory, projects, and chat history are unaffected.
Does connecting a new Google account delete my projects or chats?
No. Disconnecting and reconnecting a Google account only changes which Gmail, Calendar, and Drive data Claude can access. Your Claude account, memory, projects, and history stay put.
Can I connect Gmail and Microsoft 365 at once?
Yes. The one-account limit is per connector, and Gmail and Microsoft 365 are separate connectors. So you can connect a Gmail account and a Microsoft 365 / Outlook account at the same time, even though you cannot connect two Gmail accounts at once.
Is this different on Claude Team or Enterprise?
The single-account rule is the same. On Team and Enterprise plans, an Owner has to enable the Google Workspace connectors at the organization level first, and then each person still connects one Google account.
My Google connector is linked but Claude cannot use it. What now?
Open the connectors menu next to the message box and confirm the connector is toggled on for that chat, then ask again. Connectors can be less reliable in the browser than in the Claude desktop app, so if it still will not respond, try the desktop app.
