Organization Instructions Generator
The instructions every person in your Claude workspace inherits - who you are, how you sound, what nobody is allowed to paste in. Three minutes, paste-ready output, no email required.
Setting these requires a Claude Team or Enterprise workspace admin

Three generators, no overlap
Each writes a different file, pasted in a different place.
Organization instructionsYou are here
Who the company is, how it sounds, and what nobody may paste in.
- Pasted into:
- Workspace settings, once, by an admin
- Applies to:
- Everyone in the workspace, in every conversation
Global instructions
Who you are, how you want to be spoken to, and what you want back.
- Pasted into:
- Your own Claude settings
- Applies to:
- Only you, in every conversation and every Project
Project instructions
What one body of work is, what it needs to know, and how its output is shaped.
- Pasted into:
- That one Project
- Applies to:
- Anyone working inside that Project
The three that are easy to get wrong
- Banned words: Here only if everyone must follow it. Words you personally dislike go in your global instructions.
- Voice: Here is how the company sounds. How you like to be written to is global.
- Long reference material: Not here. Name the taxonomy and the terms; the documents themselves go in a Project's knowledge files.
For your org
Your organization instructions
Tip: press Tab on an empty field to drop in the example, then edit from there.
How everyone refers to the org internally.
Two sentences max - product, who you serve, what they care about.
Pick the closest, then edit. This is how the company sounds, not how you personally like to be written to.
Tap any that apply, then add your own. These bind everyone. Words you personally dislike belong in your own global instructions instead.
Tap the rules that apply to you, then add anything specific. Each one is written as something a person can actually check themselves against.
Your taxonomy, customer segments, frameworks, internal terms.
Optional. Written without version numbers on purpose, so this line does not go stale the next time Anthropic ships.
Your instructions
Fill in a few fields and your instructions will appear here.
Where to paste this (admin only)
- Sign in to console.anthropic.com as a workspace admin
- Go to your workspace → Settings → Custom instructions
- Paste into the workspace instructions field
- Save. Everyone in your Teams or Enterprise workspace will see the new behavior on their next conversation.
Anthropic updates these UIs occasionally. If the labels above don't match what you see, the location is roughly the same - look for “custom instructions” or “preferences.”
Next step: These are global instructions. For per-Project context (a specific client, a specific job), use the Project Instructions Generator.
